This beloved national ice cream hot spot is finally opening in Miami Beach

Miami Beach is getting its own Salt & Straw.

The popular ice cream shop founded in Oregon by cousins Kim and Tyler Malek is opening on the corner of Lincoln Road and Meridian Avenue just in time for its seasonal fall Harvest Festival menu.

The scoop shop opened its first Miami location in Wynwood in 2021, then opened a second shop at the renovated CocoWalk in Coconut Grove. The brand is famous for its off-beat flavors — its 2023 Summer Picnic series included such flavors as chocolate potato salad, cinnamon and honey fried chicken and sour cherry pie.

It also creates special flavors for each city in which it opens (locations include California, Seattle and Las Vegas). In Miami, one specialty was a collaboration with the Salty Donut, the Salty Donut Guava and Cheese. The shop also has its own national flavors, like the popular sea salt with caramel ribbons.

For the South Beach store opening, Tyler Malek teamed up with Groot Hospitality’s Papi Steak and cookie brand Last Crumb to create the Pistachio Dark Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwich with pistachio gelato and dark cherry buttercream sandwiched between an olive oil chocolate wafer and a chocolate fudge pistachio cookie. Black truffle fudge and gold leaf bourbon caramel will be drizzled on top.

The item will be available during the grand opening with limited availability.

The fall seasonal menu includes pumpkin spiced tiramisu; Beecher’s cheese with apple pie cinnamon rolls; caramel apple sherbet; pinot poached pear sherbet; and chocolate plum and hazelnut shortbread, a vegan option.

The new Salt & Straw opens Sept. 1.
