This neighborhood Cuban-inspired cocktail bar in Kendall is closing its doors

Abí María Bar & Refuge, the Cuban-inspired bar and tapas spot in Downtown Dadeland, is about to serve its last cocktail.

The cozy lounge, the creation of Chef Jorgie Ramos, announced via Instagram that it will be closing for good on Aug. 19.

“We will be closing our doors this weekend after 8 amazing years here at Downtown Dadeland,” the post said. “We want to thank everyone who supported Abí María and hope you’ll swing by for a farewell cocktail.”

The post gave no reason for the closing of the bar, which was located at 8860 SW 72nd Place in Miami.

In 2019, Ramos, who is also the co-owner and chef at Cebada Rooftop in Coral Gables, talked about the dark and cozy spot, which was just a block away from his restaurant Barley at the Dadeland Mall. Barley is now closed.

“Abí María is a dream come true and the result of a lot of hard work,” Ramos said. “I had a vision to create a neighborhood cocktail bar that exudes Cuban influences and offers a warm environment for friends to hang out.”

Abí María was also home to a Vice City Pizza pop-up. The pizza spot now has a standalone location in West Kendall.
