A popular national breakfast restaurant is putting down roots in Kendall.

A note on the door of 12516 SW 88th St. at the Shops of Kendall indicates that First Watch, the breakfast-forward restaurant known for its take on the classics as well as a rotating seasonal menu, is coming soon to the space formerly occupied by Lime Fresh Mexican Grill.

The Shops of Kendall are anchored by Sprouts grocery store and has local favorites, Thai spot Bangkok Bangkok and Jamrock Jamaican Cuisine.

First Watch, which serves breakfast, brunch and lunch and usually closes by 2:30 p.m., has more than 495 locations in 29 states or territories in 299 cities. Florida has the most locations with 118, with Texas at no. 2 with 60.

The restaurant serves eggs, salads, sandwiches and soups as well as fresh juices, smoothies and specialty coffee drinks. Summer specialties include strawberry tres leches French toast and carnitas breakfast tostadas.

There’s no indication when the restaurant will open, but it may not be the only First Watch coming to Kendall. Website What Now Miami reports that the brand recently submitted a plan review that shows a First Watch location opening at 8801 SW 136th St. at The Falls mall.
