After 35 years of steaks and celebrations, Rincón Argentino restaurant has closed for good.

The Coral Gables institution, which served Argentine cuisine, posted a note on the door of its familiar pink building at 2345 SW 37th Ave. announcing the closing.

The note thanked customers who spent decades enjoying the Argentine specialties.

“After 35 years serving our community, the De Marziani family has decided to close its beloved Rincón Argentino,” the note said. “On behalf of our late husband and father, Miguel, his wife Ileana and children Jenny, Michael, Michelle and Melissa we want to thank you for allowing us to have become part of your families. We will forever treasure the memories created after decades of birthdays, anniversaries, and celebrations.”

“Brindemos por el futuro. Salud!”

The restaurant was opened in 1987 on Coral Way by Argentine-Italian Miguel De Marziani and his family, later moving to its most recent location. The restaurant, which celebrated the gaucho style in its decor and Argentine specialties, was moderately priced. With three dining rooms, it offered a show for its guests: a glassed-in barbecue area where the meat was cooked slowly over the grill.

The menu reflected De Marziani’s background with a variety of steaks but also pasta, seafood and empanadas. He died in 2021 at the age of 76.

There has been no confirmation of what might take over the space.
