At Tempo Restaurant in Coral Gables, you can dine on fresh, grilled Mediterranean cuisine.

Or you can go crazy and order cochinillo for the table.

Yes. Roast suckling pig is on the menu of the new Mediterranean restaurant on Le Jeune Road in Coral Gables, from partner and chef Carlos Garcia.

Originally from Venezuela, Garcia graduated from the Hofmann School of Hospitality in Barcelona, Spain, and has emerged as a notable chef in Latin America, with stints at El Bulli, El Celler de Can Roca and Mugaritz and as co-owner of Alto in Caracas.

At Tempo, Garcia has paired with Chef Richard Ortega to focus on a farm to table concept.

Grilling is king at Tempo, where you’ll find favorites like sepia arroz negro (grilled shrimp and squid with basil aioli and piquillo paste) and grilled branzino with peas and kimchi sauce.

But while the restaurant keeps its eye on the grill, it also looks beyond the Mediterranean for inspiration. There’s the cochinillo, which is served individually or family style. There are other non-grill choices, too, such as duck confit papardelle with seared foie gas and truffle lobster foam with pork belly, poached eggs and shoestring potatoes.

Tempo also has a craft cocktail program that includes intricately designed drinks like Le Jeune (raisins infused-Diplomatico Planas, Kalani Liqueur, Giffard Banane du Brésil liqueur, citrus), Aragon (Smoke Lab Vodka, Chinola Passion Fruit, citrus, simple syrup, dill, spicy tincture, aromatic bitter, ginger beer), and El Palmarito (Fronterizo Mezcal, Magenta Reposado, beet syrup, blackberry shrub, Sour AF Lime, Huana Guanabana Liqueur, Diplomatico Coffee bitters and grapefruit soda).

Diners can eat lunch or dinner indoors or at an outdoor terrace. Expect lounge music to accompany your meal.
