Listen live to La Ventanita podcast: Meet the man making some of the best BBQ in Miami-Dade
I won’t shut up about Kendall.
Yeah, yeah. I know. Kendall is a perfectly nice suburb on the edge of the Everglades that has a few decent mom and pop restaurants. There’s no need for me to constantly hijack the conversation on La Ventanita food podcast and name-drop Kendall like it’s a Miami hotspot (it’s not). But sometimes, when I go hard for Kendall, I am right. Case in point: Smoke & Dough, Kendall’s contribution to barbecue culture.
This week on La Ventanita podcast, we will talk to Harry Coleman, owner of Smoke & Dough, about barbecue, empanadas, a major health scare that almost derailed all of his plans, and probably Kendall, too.
Coleman, who also owns Empanada Harry’s right next door, opened his barbecue spot in Kendall after the pandemic had the entire project on hold for almost two years. He and his wife and business partner, Michelle, spent that time studying everything they could about barbecue, they bought a high-end commercial wood smoker and got to work creating Miami-inspired recipes that are worth braving traffic.
