This new outdoor Wynwood spot is two restaurants in one — and a nightclub, too
The latest destination in Wynwood isn’t just a restaurant. It’s two restaurants and a new nightlife venue.
Now open on North Miami Avenue just north of Cerveceria La Tropical, Burdo includes a 2,700-square-foot dining room and a 4,000-square-foot outdoor patio that transforms, like so many other new Miami hot spots, from restaurant to late-night party spot after dark.
It’s even got the required Instagrammable neon sign on its patio, reading “Bad friends, good drinks & expensive taste.” No, we’re not entirely sure why you’d want to be there with bad friends, either. But maybe your followers will.
The concept is the creation of Colombian-based hospitality group SinMente Group, which opened a similar venue in Medellin in 2014. SinMente partnered with Buenavista Investment Group to bring Burdo to Miami.
The main menu at Burdo serves up American fare including bowls, pizzas, burgers and includes sushi rolls. Highlights include a green apple and cheese pizza ($20, with blue cheese, mozzarella, bocconcini, green apples in maple syrup, almonds, basil and spinach); truffle grilled cauliflower ($20) and “Black Wings” ($28), topped with sesame seeds, chives and black barbecue sauce.
But that’s not the only menu on the premises.
Located on Burdo’s patio is Criminal Taqueria at Burdo. Relax — there is nothing criminal about tacos. Tacos represent all the good things in life. The taqueria, which has a few seats but is primarily designed for grab-and-go purchases, has its own independent kitchen and serves tacos, burritos, quesadillas, esquites and elote bowls. Prices range from $4 to $13.
You can order a margarita or Michelada at the taqueria or take advantage of Burdo’s more wide-ranging cocktail program, which includes mezcal-based drinks like La Parca and El Chingon and special gin drinks, too.
After sundown, when the high tech sound and lighting systems fire up, bottle service is available.
