La Ventanita podcast: Stress-eating Taco Bell pizza and trying The One on Sunset
This was a tough show to do.
On the May 26 episode of La Ventanita, the Miami Herald food podcast, I found myself opening the show with a brief comment on gun violence after the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas. Any time there is mass shooting in America — and we suffer them far too often — it always jolts me back to the senseless shooting death of my own father, Fernando Frías, in February 2022.
Somehow we managed to segue into banter on the week’s food news in Miami.
My co-host Amy Reyes, the editor of Miami.com, and I discussed how the stressful Miami Heat games forced me to order Taco Bell Mexican pizza; Amy tried the Swensen’s replacement in Coral Gables, The One on Sunset, and we pitch an idea for Kush’s Matt Kuscher to open a Dandy Bear themed Kendall restaurant.
