This noodle bar is a hit in Spain. Now it’s coming to this popular Miami neighborhood.
A Spanish chain notable for its Japanese noodle bars is opening its first U.S. restaurant in Miami.
Got all that? Udon Asian Food is hoping Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood is the right fit for the convergence of all these cultures within a pan-Asian menu. The chain, which has 70 restaurants across Spain and Portugal, is breaking into the U.S. market with a location next to Uchi Miami, another Asian restaurant with out-of-town roots.
Udon gets its inspiration from Japanese noodle houses, the every-man lunch and early dinner spots where bowls full of yakisoba and yaki udon (thin and thick rice noodles) are the star. Fresh veggies and proteins ranging from chicken, beef and seafood to tofu make Udon the Chicken Kitchen of noodle bowls.
The restaurant rounds out the menu with pan-Asian cues, with ramen, Thai curry, Chinese-style char siu pork buns and American-style sushi rolls.
Prices range from $7-$16 for small bites, $14-$20 for bowls, and the menu includes beer, wine and sake. The 2,500-square-foot restaurant will have indoor and outdoor seating for 137 and will open June 1.
