This massive Italian food hall in Brickell City Centre is now closed for good

Luna Park, which replaced original Italian food hall La Centrale at Brickell City Centre, is now closed.

The sun has set on Luna Park.

The Italian food hall at Brickell City Centre in Miami, which opened in 2019 in the former three-story space of La Centrale Italian food hall, has closed its doors for good.

A Brickell City Centre spokesperson confirmed the closure but declined to comment further on why it shut down.

“We look forward to repurposing the anchor space and bringing in more retail and dining experiences soon to continue catering to the ever-shifting demands of our dynamic neighborhood and its residents,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

The food hall’s last Instagram post came in October of 2021 as it touted delivery and pick-up options as well as indoor and outdoor dining.

When Luna Park opened at the end of 2019, the main obstacle to its success seemed to be the popularity of the other Italian food hall in Brickell City Centre, the popular Casa Tua Cucina, which is now a full service restaurant. But within months the COVID-19 pandemic shut down restaurants throughout the city.

Luna Park’s predecessor, La Centrale, opened to great fanfare in February of 2018, filling ts 40,000 square feet of space with a market and casual restaurant on the first floor; several upscale restaurant concepts on the second floor; and a wine bar and wine vault on the third.

The high-tech mini golf concept Puttshack was also scheduled to open above Luna Park in 2021 but its opening has been postponed to 2022, according to its website.

Whatever issues have befallen Luna Park, Brickell City Centre, which celebrated its fifth anniversary at the end of 2021, is otherwise reporting positive news. A spokesperson said that foot traffic was up 11.2 percent compared to pre-pandemic levels and that The Shops at BCC were 98 percent leased.
