This Miami pizza restaurant was just named one of the best in the country by Yelp

Food trends come, and food trends go, but pizza is forever.

That’s why Yelp just ranked the 100 top restaurants for pizza in the U.S. on its blog — and one Miami restaurant made the list.

Crust, located on the Miami River, ranked No. 71 on the list, which Yelp ranked by calculating several factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews.

Owned and operated by Chef Klime Kovaceski and his wife Anita, the restaurant opened in 2015 and doesn’t limit its menu to pizza. You can also order pasta dishes and entrees as well as small plates like fried calamari, meatballs and grilled octopus.

But it’s the pizzas that made Crust famous. A carnivore’s dream with five layers of meat. A Tuscan chicken pizza or the Crust pizza, which comes with figs, proscuitto and blue cheese. Two white pizzas involve drizzles of white truffle oil, one with fresh tomato, arugula, shaved Parmesan and lemon juice, the other with blue cheese, walnuts, arugula and honey.

You can even be basic and order a pie with pepperoni or a Hawaiian pizza, but understand we will judge you for the latter. The pizzas run from $18.95 to $24.95.

National accolades are nothing new to Crust. In 2020, it made The Daily Meal’s Best Pizzas in America list, and OpenTable named it one of the top 100 restaurants in America in 2019.

The best pizza in the U.S., according to Yelp, is Cheese Board Pizza in Berkeley, California. Can you hear the New Yorkers screaming as they read this?

Several other Florida pizza restaurants were mentioned: Mangia & Bevi Pizzeria Napoletana in Cocoa Beach (33); Noble Crust (56) in St. Petersburg; Eddie & Sam’s NY Pizza in Tampa (63); Biggie’s Pizza in Jacksonville Beach (76); Carmine’s Pie House (no. 80) in Jacksonville; and Cristano’s Coal Oven Pizza in Clearwater (96).

We could complain about two Duval County spots being mentioned while only Crust made the cut in South Florida. But we think we’ll just order a pizza instead.
