These cocktail kings just opened a tapas spot on Española Way in Miami Beach
A beloved downtown Miami bar has opened its first restaurant on Miami Beach.
But don’t worry. The creators of Lost Boy may have just opened Tropezón on Española Way, but they haven’t forgotten to bring the cocktails.
The Andalusian tapas restaurant and bar is now open for dinner and drinking with signature tapas and a stellar gin program that threatens to change drinking as we know it. Breakfast, happy hour and a late-night tapas menu are coming soon.
The restaurant’s aim is straightfoward: “simply to embrace the traditions of Spain, specifically of the Andalusian region, where tapas culture is still celebrated today,” said co-owner Randy Alonso in a statement. “The idea is to introduce this culture to our diners and give them a sense of what dining there is like.”
The menu features traditional favorites like jamón ibérico, tortilla Espanola and gazpacho. Other tapas include papitas, fried anchovies, grilled prawns and traditional patatas bravas with pimento sauce and salsa verde. There are also salads and larger plates like arroz al Horno as well as cowboy ribeye and local fish.
As you might imagine, Tropezón takes gin and tonics to a new level with variations like Blue Matcha Yuzu G&T and more than 20 gins infused with everything from tea and fruit to cured meat. There’s also an extensive list of sherry, vermouth and a variety of Spanish cocktails.
The vintage decor, which makes great use of old western movie posters, gives the room a relaxed saloon feel.
“We aim to bring the same community feel we built in downtown to Española Way,” said co-owner Chris Hudnall.
The opening is part of a renaissance on the Spanish-Mediterranean style pedestrian street, where last month the new Esmé Miami Beach hotel opened after a $40 million renovation.
Tropezón is only part of the expansion for Lost Boy & Co., which also created the food and beverage program at the Esme. Coming in 2022 is the revival of the South Miami spot Fox’s Lounge and a dive bar-style lounge and restaurant in the Variety Hotel on Alton Road in Miami Beach.
