This vegan cupcake shop near Wynwood just shuttered, but you can still get your fix

Bunnie Cakes, the vegan bakery housed in a little pink building near Wynwood, is no more.

A favorite with locals in the Edgewater neighborhood seeking alternative sweets, it shuttered a few weeks ago after eight years in that location.

Owner/home baker Mariana Cortez opened the spot in 2013; shortly after, The Food Network came calling and the mother of three was asked to appear on “Cupcake Wars.” The episode (she came in second) gave the company a huge marketing push. The Venezuela native’s mini colorful cupcakes (all with a signature pink heart on top) eventually landed in more than a dozen or so local restaurants as well as Starbucks and Whole Foods.

While you and your little ones may miss the cheerful one-story space on 2328 NE Second Avenue, the good news is another Bunnie Cakes has opened up in downtown Doral. And yes, the building is the same adorable pink color.

Just in: Perennial faves are back in stock, such as the cinnamon rolls. And every Wednesday, bring a friend for 15 percent off your entire order.
