Ever had a red taco? This hot new food trend has made its way to Miami

We found a new place for Taco Tuesday, Miami.

Actually every other day of the week works, too.

El Primo Red Tacos is a new pop-up shop inside Pez Mexican restaurant downtown.

Prepare to get a little messy so have some paper towels handy. El Primo serves up birria tacos, aka red tacos. The name refers to the accompanying savory stew-like broth meant for dipping. It’s a deep red color and stains your meal (and fingers) beautifully. That’s the point. Have you even heard of Instagram?

Submerging your taco in this savory tomato concoction is a current hot trend on the West Coast, even in the takeout era. So we are feeling legit cool right now.

You can order the birria broth a la carte different ways, even with ramen noodles mixed up in there. El Primo’s bad boys start at $4.

Want more of this rich, scarlet consommé? An extra cup will set you back $2.

Static post for posterity? Priceless.

Details: El Primo’s popup inside Pez Restaurant offers counter service for limited patrons since Mayor Gimenez’s ban on indoor dining was lifted. If you prefer takeout, pickup orders are from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. 20 West Flagler St., Miami, 305-570-3440 www.pezmiami.com.
