When it opened on July 1, Pastificio Propaganda planned to lure customers with authentic Sicilian delights straight from family recipes in a building that displays artist’s Shepard Fairey’s famous Propaganda Eye Mural.

Propaganda is still serving up southern Italian favorites. But you’re going to have to order them to go because like many restaurants in Miami-Dade County, the restaurant has had to change its plans during the COVID-19 pandemic.

But though you can’t eat on the premises at the moment, new executive chef is Luigi Nastri — a Michelin star chef — offers a menu full of Sicilian comfort food.

Propaganda makes fresh egg pastas in house, like spaghetti vongole and rigatoni amatriciana. You can also order pizzas created with organic flour, like the Palermo (broccoli rabe, sausage, fior di latte) or the Etna (fior di latte, San Marzano sauce, ‘nduia, salame piccante). There are also seafood entrees like sea bass and swordfish.

If you’ve got a group to feed, consider a Family Feast option for four with lasagna ($54) pizza ($48) or roast chicken ($49), For a bit more, add an organic wine paring.

The restaurant will open for dine-in options as soon as Miami-Dade County decides that it’s safe.

“When it comes to building communities, is there really any substitute for sitting down at the dinner table?” said general manager Fabrizio Gallina.

Housemade pasta is one of the restaurant’s specialties.
