After 11 years in Coral Gables, Misha’s Cupcakes moves to a sweet new location

Misha’s Cupcakes has left the building.

The building in Riviera Plaza in Coral Gables, that is. Now, after 11 years in residence, the flagship store of Miami’s most beloved cupcakes has moved a couple of blocks away to Sunset Drive, next door to Sunset Cobbler.

The new shop is bigger, with café seating where customers can lounge, sip coffee or tea and eat cupcakes, which is pretty much a perfect way to spend an afternoon (or morning or evening - we’re talking cupcakes here, people).

With plans to renovate the original building into a Publix looming, owner Misha Kuryla-Gomez says she considered moving out of the space and then back in, but moving to a new location with more room made sense.

“The new place has more of a café feel,” she says. “I’d love it to become a place where people came to have a meeting or have breakfast with their girlfriends, have a cupcake and hang out. . . . I do my work there. It’s comfortable, and I can get stuff done.”

Misha’s also has locations in Aventura, Kendall, Miami Lakes, Pembroke Pines, Davie and at the Miami International Airport. The main bakery facility remains at Bird Road and the Palmetto Expressway.
