Stuff your face with stuffed bread at this new Mediterranean restaurant in Coral Gables

Mediterranean restaurants seem to be enjoying a moment in Miami. And now Coral Gables has a new spot of its own.

Tur Kitchen opened recently on Giralda Plaza under the guidance of Executive Chef Nelson J. Hernandez, who in 2014 was at the helm of the high-end Mediterranean favorite Byblos Miami on South Beach.

Originally from Bogota, Colombia, Nelson relies on fresh ingredients and stunning presentations to please diners.

The restaurant, which has an open kitchen concept, has indoor and outdoor seating, a full bar and a chef table.

There are plates to share, such as seared eggplant with feta and tomato, squid with medjool dates and chorizo and octopus with chraimeh, marigolds and dukkah. Main courses include chicken with endive, pomegranate, Bosc pear and curry; tuna with zucchini, hazelnuts, cucumber and golden beets; and pork loin with baby corn, snap peas, amarinth and plantain sauce.

Also on the menu: several different types of pides, a Turkish flat bread baked with toppings in a stone oven, including one with braised lamb and another with forest mushrooms. Expect to see these on the happy hour menu as well.

For dessert expect classics like the Pavlova and Kunafa, all made in-house.

At the moment, Tur Kitchen is only serving dinner, but menus for lunch, brunch and happy hour are coming soon. On weekdays the restaurant will offer a prix-fixe menu.
