Oceanfront Tokyo Blue serves Asian, Peruvian food in nightclub setting

You’ll still find plenty of pizza joints and pub grub at the beach, but oceanfront hotel restaurants are getting increasingly ambitious and sophisticated, drawing talented chefs to fine dining choices like 3030 Ocean , Steak 954, Trina and Via Luna on Fort Lauderdale beach and Hollywood Prime at the ritzy Westin Diplomat.

Hours: 5-11 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday-Thursday, 5-midnight Friday-Saturday. Sushi bar open an hour after kitchen closes. Bar stays open to 2 a.m. Tuesday-Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday-Saturday.

Prices: Appetizers $8-$26, soup-salad $4-$15, sushi-sashimi (by piece) $3-$9.75, rolls $7-$14, entrees $18-$86, wagyu kobe beef $25 per ounce (three-ounce minimum), desserts $8-$12.

FYI: For a month, Tokyo Blue will donate 5 percent of its food sales to Japanese hurricane relief. An 18 percent gratuity is already added to your check, even for small parties. Full bar; AX, DS, MC, VS; entertainment 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and DJ and dance music in the lounge 11 p.m. Thursday-Saturday.
