Slow Food & Film

Do dinner and a movie a bit differently this month as Slow Food Miami launches its local film series. The first screening will be held August 26 at The Coral Gables Museum and will feature a screening of Ingredients: A Documentary Film. The feature-length film explores how people nationwide are “working to revitalize the connection between food and the land.”

Make it a complete date night with a pre-theater dinner at Books and Books, Norman’s 180 or Ortanique on the Mile. Each restaurant is featuring a “vibrant seasonal” three-course feast pegged to the event. Books & Books offers grilled jamon serrano, garlicky laughing bird shrimp and home-baked chocolate chip cookies for $24. Norman’s 180 dishes out Key West pink shrimp gazpacho, Palmetto Creek pork and a bittersweet chocolate brownie for $55. Ortanique entices with Florida organic avocado salad, pan sautéed red snapper and local cherwin mango sabayon for $35.

Contact the restaurants directly for reservations and make sure to mention the Slow Food Film Series. Film screening is $15 at slowfoodmiami.com.
