Miami Spice 2016: Last chance today

You promised yourself this wouldn’t happen.

This was the year you were going to hit all your favorite restaurants during Miami Spice to take advantage of the fixed-price menus. How can you beat a $23 lunch, $39 for dinner, at some of Miami’s top spots?

But you looked up to see today is the last day of Miami Spice 2016. Fear not. Here are some of the places Miami Herald food critics and some of our friends in the culinary world said they had atop their list.

“Miami native chef Daniel Serfer keeps it fresh and briny, the only way to spend summer in the city. I still have dreams about the clams “casino” appetizer with bacon and white wine, but for Miami Spice, here’s what I’m having:”

Having: Oysters Frank with smoked bacon and sherry, pan-roasted grouper with czarina sauce, and butterscotch Heath bar bread pudding with cayenne whipped cream (love that kick in the sweet cream).
