This historic Broward resort will get a $220 million renovation to become an SLS hotel
A Broward institution is about to get a major makeover. The famous SLS brand is heading north – to take over the Diplomat Golf & Tennis Club.
The Diplomat, which was first opened in 1958, will become the SLS Resort Residence & Marina Hallandale Beach. This will be the brand’s fourth property in South Florida (the others are SLS Brickell, LUX Brickell and South Beach).
Dining options at the resort will include parent company sbe’s award-winning Katsuya as well as S Bar. Golfer Greg Norman is designing the 18-hole golf course set across eight acres and a 570-yard hole that’s one of the longest in South Florida. The property will also include 10 tennis courts and a 48-slip marina.
Roomwise, the upgraded resort will have 290 hotel rooms, including 50 condo/hotel units and 250 apartments.
The $220 million project is scheduled to open in 2022.
