The little Thai restaurant that, in less than a year in business, has impressed Miami food writers and culinary cognoscenti today announced its plans for a second location, to open this summer in Wynwood.
Cake Thai Kitchen, run by chef-owner Phuket “Cake” Thongsodchareondee (he earned his nickname after his mother’s favorite craving when she was pregnant with him), will move into Metro 1’s Wynwood Gateway Complex at Northwest 29th Street and Second Avenue, home to a Ducati showroom and Boxelder Craft Beer Market. The original Cake Thai opened last fall at 7917 Biscayne Blvd.
“We are really excited to bring Cake to the Wynwood community and are certain it will become a stellar dining sensation,” Metro 1 founder and CEO Tony Cho says in a statement. “This is exactly the type of independent local brands Wynwood needs to preserve its character and flavor.”
