Restaurant closures: 1826 in Miami Beach, Southern Swank Kitchen in Davie
Two new South Florida restaurant closures of note:
• 1826 Restaurant has shut after a year-and-a-half run at 1826 Collins Ave. in Miami Beach. The high-end restaurant went dark for alleged remodeling last month and has since disconnected its phone and hidden its Twitter account. The Miami Herald wrote a three-star review of 1826 last year under original chef Danny Grant. He left several months later and was replaced by chef Luke Bergman, who moved to Denver last month.
• Southern Swank Kitchen is out at 4196 S. University Dr. in Davie after just shy of two years, having opened in October 2013. A sign posted on the restaurant’s door last month says “closed until further notice”; Southern Swank remains unopen. The restaurant received a favorable review from SouthFlorida.com a few months after its debut.
