The Who: Sardinia (Miami Beach) and Moye (downtown Miami) owners Tony Gallo and Pietro Vardeu have branched out into the Design District, peddling Southern Italian specialties at Campania.
The Space: The former Egg & Dart space has been warmed up with wood flooring, coffee-colored benches and a mosaic-tiled pizza oven imported from Italy.
The Dishes: Naples and the Amalfi Coast are the inspiration for a simple menu of pizzas, pastas and calzones. Prices are neighborhood-friendly with pizzas $10-$15 and larger plates $16-$24.
Mozzarella and burrata are made in-house and make ideal starters. Shrimp wrapped in pasta are like the seafood version of pigs in a blanket. There are more than a dozen pizza choices, including a veggie-heavy Ortolana and the namesake Campania, a white pie with mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, arugula and prosciutto. Pastas are housemade, and mains feature hearty proteins like veal with mozzarella and basil, and tuna steak with pistachios.
Desserts focus on the classics: tiramisu and panna cotta.
