The Burgies: Who will be South Florida's 2015 comfort-food champions?
The Sixth Annual Burgie Awards, presented by Miami comfort-food blogger Sef Gonzalez, aka Burger Beast, are scheduled for 5-10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Milander Park, 4700 Palm Ave., in Hialeah.
As in previous years, admission is free, and there will be food available to purchase from more than 25 local vendors, including Velvet Creme Doughnuts, Illegal Bakery, Pincho Factory, HipPOPS Handcrafted Gelato Bars, Jefe’s Original Fish Taco & Burgers, Jersey Dawg, King of Racks BBQ, Ms. Cheezious, Paradise Cups, The Rolling Stove and more. Funky Buddha will provide an array of craft beers.
Eat, then cast your vote for Best Dish at the Burgies. Don’t wanna eat? DJ Volksmusik along with bands Cuban Pete & the Hialeah Hooligans and Miller & the Revolvers will be handling the music for the night.
The real excitement comes with the announcement of the 2015 Burgie Award winners in various food-related categories. A two-plus-month voting period ended today, and Mr. Beast keeps the winners’ names under lock and key until the Burgies.
