Bottoms up, Miami Beach: You now have two of the world’s best places to grab a drink.

The Miami Beach bar Sweet Liberty Drinks & Supply Company joined perennial honoree Broken Shaker on the list of The World’s 50 Best Bars, an honor voted on by more than 500 drink experts around the world. It’s the first time two Miami-area bars have been named to the list. The awards were announced in London Thursday.

The Broken Shaker, the local first bar to crack the list, at No. 14 in 2014, returned to the list for the fourth straight year, hovering near the same spot at No. 18. The big surprise for the international community is old news for South Floridians. Sweet Liberty, which broke in at No. 27, has been racking up awards for its drinks and bites.

Credit Bar Lab’s Gabriel Orta and Elad Zvi for starting the upscale cocktail trend at the Broken Shaker, tucked inside the Freehand Hotel, where its unique cocktails earned it a James Beard award nomination in 2014 as well as annual honors on several best-of lists.

“Guests are whisked into a tropical retreat where vintage Florida furniture fills the courtyard like a living room,” the World’s Best committee wrote. “The corner bar is where some of the city’s best bartenders create unique creations. A daily punch special is always available with fresh herbs from Broken Shaker’s own garden.”

It was only a matter of time before Sweet Liberty showed up on this list. The bar’s owners have a long, successful history in food and drink: Bartender John Lermayer creates a combination of contemporary and classic cocktails; chef-couple David Martinez and Michelle Bernstein bring their culinary acumen; and Dan Binkiewicz’s a long track record of starting successful bars, including Purdy Lounge, Blackbird Ordinary and The Bar in Coral Gables.

Sweet Liberty was recently named Best New American Cocktail Bar in the annual Spirited Awards.

“While cocktails are always top of guests’ minds, the live music, vibe and food menu are all spectacular,” the committee wrote. “Fresh oysters, swordfish tacos and the famed cauliflower nachos, among others, are made fresh to order. The neon back wall invites you to ‘pursue happiness,’ which is the bar’s mantra — and a mission usually accomplished by the end of the evening.”
