There’s never a wrong time to eat tacos. Here’s where to find some of Miami’s best.
There’s never a bad time for tacos.
Bad breakup? Tacos!
Team won? Tacos!
Late-night munchies? Tacos!
Absolutely no reason at all? Tacos!
Here are some of our favorite places to grab tacos in Miami.
El Rancho Grande
Kendall has seen an upswing in quality eateries in recent years, and Rancho Grande is one of them. Swing through for a taco-riffic lunch ($13.99), which includes three tacos (al pastor, carnitas or al carbon) along with a soup or salad. Or come by for dinner and try one of the other taco flavors, like cochinito (pulled pork with pibil sauce) or the veg-friendly Maria Sabina with mushrooms with caramelized onions and cuitalcoche (corn truffles).
Tacos and Tattoos
This formerly hidden gem has become a hot spot for the tatted, craft-beer drinking, Miami-Dade College set, while also remaining unintimidating to local families in need of tasty tacos. You’ll find tantalizing tacos for everyone in your family: Shrimp tacos, pork tacos, churrasco tacos, plus others filled with buffalo chicken, tofu or portobello mushrooms can all be found here. And if someone in your group doesn’t like tacos, disown them. Er, I mean, advise them to try the tostones rellenos, instead.
Coyo Taco
As the name suggests, Coyo is all about tacos —though not exactly the traditional variety. Coyo’s tacos dance in your mouth with ingredients like smoked bacon, charred octopus and habanero pickled onions. Order some up, then go drink at the hidden-ish bar in the back (because what goes better with tacos than a quality mezcal-heavy cocktail?) Oh, and a personal shout-out to the quinoa-and-queso falafel taco, which frequently wins over vegetarians and omnivores alike.
El Taquito
El Taquito has been a staple in the Grove for as long as anyone can remember, doling out piping hot, authentic tacos to hungry passersby. It’s a no-frills, standing-room-only kind of establishment, though its other locations (in Little Havana and Kendall) are slightly more elaborate. What’s the same, though, is the incredibly cheap (and absurdly delicious) tacos. Make sure to check out the menus, though, as there are slight variations depending on location.

Taqueria Morelia
Locals know to head to Homestead when they get that authentic Mexican food craving. And many also know to hit up Taqueria Morelia a.k.a. “that place in the gas station.” But Morelia actually has two locations, and both offer the same high-quality tacos alongside one of the best salsa bars in town. Tacos here are made only with soft corn tortillas (so take your crispy-taco-loving self elsewhere if you’re not down with that) and come filled with carne asada, barbacoa, carnitas and a few other variations that would please any meat eater.
Bodega Taqueria and Tequila
You might not think tacos and speakeasies go together, yet there are two on this list. Go figure. These days, we all love well-made tacos as much as we love quality tequila and secret bars, and Bodega provides ample opportunity for enjoying all these things. Bodega’s tacos stray from the usual offerings, with fillings like Texas BBQ carnitas and camaron BLT (that’s shrimp AND bacon). But trust us, it’s all good! And hey, if you’re still not convinced, let the $2 happy hour tacos seal the deal.
Mi Rancho Mexican Grill
Mi Rancho does an excellent job of providing Little Havana’s population with delicious tacos. Here, you’ll find fillings you’re accustomed to (like chorizo or chicken), while also enjoying flavors you might not have tried yet (like the taco de lengua—that’s tongue FYI). But even if you’re not the most adventurous eater, where else can you get an American-style taco (with sour cream) that doesn’t come from a drive-through? You should also try the taco stuffed with chicken, rice and mole sauce because it will probably be the best thing you’ve ever eaten.

Huahua’s Taqueria
Late-night tacos on South Beach is never a bad idea, especially when your go-to spot is Huahua’s. Enjoy a breakfast taco any time of day, stuffed with cheesy eggs, carnitas, pork, hash browns and cilantro. Or opt for a more southern-flavored treat with the fried chicken taco (where jalapeno cornbread croutons, cabbage and ancho ranch somehow sneak onto a corn tortilla and make it better). Plus there’s vegan options like the guaco taco or the hongos taco (both topped with a delightfully spicy tofu crema). This is millennial taco dining to the max.

Tacology
The recently opened Tacology in Brickell City Centre offers more than 26 taco options with many ingredients sourced direct from Mexico. There are some great traditional tacos on the menu but also whimsical options like the Shrimp Quinoa Taco with agave chipotle, avocado and cilantro. Also, Tacology has something major going on with margaritas.
