Miami’s culinary community has joined forces with The National Hotel and nonprofit Neighbors4Neighbors to host Chefs 4 Neighbors, a  benefit event to raise funds for recovery and rebuilding efforts of the Florida communities affected by Hurricane Irma and efforts to assist those in Puerto Rico and beyond affected by Hurricane Maria.
The benefit, at the National Hotel from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, features an impressive list of confirmed chefs. They are:
·       Chef Matthew McDonald, National Hotel, Miami Beach
·       Chef Dewey LoSasso, Bill Hansen Catering
·       Chef Michael Shultz, Sea Level at Harbor Beach Marriott, Fort Lauderdale
·       Chef Martin Liz, personal chef and Lost Kitchen Supper Club, Key West
·       Bobby and Michelle Mongelli, HogFish Bar and Grill, Stock Island

A host of supporting chefs have also joined the lineup, including many from the Florida Keys and Puerto Rico whose families and homes have also been severely impacted by the storms. Supporting chefs include Alex Bulnes, Erick Jones, Rene Lopez, Felix Munoz and Javier Peuser.
Chef Paul Menta, also owner of the Key West Rum Distillery, is donating the rum for the VIP area.
“The natural disasters that have hit our Florida community in the past couple of weeks came too close to home for our Executive Chef Matthew McDonald, who previously resided in Key West and oversaw culinary efforts for many Keys’ staples such as Westin Resort & Marina, Pier House Resort ‘One Duval’ and the Croce Group,” said Yaser Mohamad, General Manager, National Hotel.

Tickets range from $75 to $150 and are available here.
