Local restaurants are helping Miami get back on its feet with some foodie freebies. Here’s where to find them.

Miami restaurants are stepping up to help feed us as we slowly put our lives back together post Hurricane Irma. To find out what’s open already, take a look here.

Some places are going above and beyond, offering freebies for locals, first responders and our beloved FPL technicians. Take a look at what’s cooking:

Sugar Factory has free meals

Sugar Factory Ocean Drive is giving back to the community by giving away a free meal to those affected by Irma through Friday. The menu for the next three days: Turkey and Swiss Sandwich, bag of chips, fresh fruit, one drink. Available from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Giveaway is taking place on the side door entrance of Sugar Factory.

Federal Donuts has free donuts

For those of us that weren’t eating Nutella straight from the container over the weekend, Wynwood’s Federal Donuts, the Philly transplant that has taught us to appreciate the combo of fried chicken and fresh donuts, is reopening tomorrow.

But wait, there’s more. With the purchase of a cup of coffee, you get a free doughnut. The freebeis run Friday through Sunday (Sept. 17), so get it while the gettin’s good. Weekend hours are 8 a.m.-10 p.m Friday, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday.

Obviously the promo lasts as long as the doughnuts last.

Blaze Pizza has free food for First Responders and Utility Workers

First responders and utility workers assisting in Hurricane Irma relief efforts get a free pizza and drink now through Sunday, Sept. 17 (Valid ID required) at all Florida Blaze Pizza locations.

Free ice cream for FPL techs at Hoffman's Chocolates

Hoffman's Chocolates is offering utility workers and first responders free ice cream at their nine locations this week. DAVID DECOTEAU

No one is more popular these days than the FPL technician reattaching us to the power grid after Hurricane Irma.

And now Hoffman’s Chocolates wants to say thanks.

The chocolate makers, based in Greenacres, are offering two scoops of ice cream free to any utility worker or first responder through Sept. 17, and buy-one, get-one to everyone else. (Be ready to show identification.)

And for the kids still out of school, Hoffman’s is opening its chocolate-making classes at its Greenacres headquarters to keep them busy.
