Harry's Pizzeria to open in Coconut Grove
Fresh news from the Michael Schwartz camp: His 3-year-old Harry’s Pizzeria is expanding, opening a location in Coconut Grove this spring.
“What began as a question mark — Should we open a pizzeria? — has grown up and become this great restaurant … one that we feel has great potential for growth,” Schwartz says in a news release.
The second Harry’s will open at 2996-98 McFarlane Rd. in Coconut Grove. Buildout is being overseen by Coconut Grove-based Arquitectonica.
Schwartz’s Genuine Hospitality Group opened the original Harry’s in September 2011 at 3918 N. Miami Ave. in Miami, offering wood-fired, thin-crust pizzas as well as fresh salads, soups, craft beer and Panther coffee. The expansion announcement comes a week after Schwartz reopened Michael’s Genuine Food and Drink, his Design District flagship, with a new raw bar, expanded hours and extra seating.
The Harry’s news also reinforces a continuing trend of casual pizzerias blazing a path into South Florida.
The team behind Toscana Divino opened Ironside Pizza this month in Miami’s Little River District. The former executive sous chef at Bourbon Steak opened Proof Pizza & Pasta this month in midtown Miami. And St. Louis-based Pi Pizzeria is expected to open in January in South Beach.
Who’s hungry for a slice?
