Rainer Becker, the guy who shook things up with his robata grill at a little place in downtown Miami you have may heard of — Zuma — is expanding his culinary roots in South Florida.

Etaru, a restaurant featuring contemporary Japanese robatayaki cuisine, will open Aug. 21 in the space formerly known as Hyde Kitchen and Bar at Hyde Beach Club in Hallandale Beach, with a second location to follow in early 2018 at luxe Las Olas rental building Icon Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale.

Like its sibling Zuma, Etaru will have a menu that revolves around the robata grill and also showcases a wide range of sushi, sashimi, raw dishes, salads, tatakis and tempura, along with other Japanese specialties.
