Bachour Bakery changing name in Bachour split
The upcoming B Bistro and Bakery has taken the Bachour out of its name in more than one way.
Pulling a P. Diddy/Puffy/Puff Daddy/Diddy move, Brickell’s beloved Bachour Bakery and Bistro will close Monday and reopen July 9 with a new name, new staff and new reasons to break from your summer cleanse.
The change in identity is no surprise considering the original bakery’s namesake, Antonio Bachour, parted ways with his partner back in April. Bachour, meanwhile, plans to open his own bakery and cafes in Aventura Mall, the Citadel, Miami and in a 5,000-square-foot location in South Miami.
B Bistro and Bakery will promote two staffers to join chef/owner Henry Hané: chef de cuisine Aleric Constantin, formerly of Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, and Alexis Kwakernaat, who will oversee the day to day operations.
“I couldn’t be happier about this next chapter,” Hané said. “I’m thrilled to have a team who is as eager as I am to experiment and keep things current and exciting. I’m so appreciative of what Antonio brought to the table and we will definitely continue to adhere to his standard of quality, but we’re also elated to finally be making this our own. Our goal is to continuously experiment, think outside the box and push boundaries, all while catering to our loyal customers as a neighborhood staple.”
New at B: a house pickling and fermenting program, Summer Sweets + Sips Happy Hour, subtle updates to décor, a health-conscious grab-and-go section and “impelling nighttime programming. “
Local talent and friend of Hané’s, Chef Valerie Chang, formerly of Jugofresh, will debut her Wildflower Elixir line of artisan vegan snacks and treats.
Hané is also working on evening activities that aim to showcase different facets of talent — both established and up-and-coming — with pop-ups, guest-chef dinners, exhibitions of Miami’s emerging art scene and more.
Among the new menu items: foie gras ganache and berry jam brioche, white truffle croissant, bacon and jalapeño loaf and Cuban picadillo gallette. For lunch: Mediterranean lentil salad, croissant lobster roll, short rib bahn mi, and duck fried rice.
New desserts include lava cake petit gateaux and strawberry shortcake entremets.
