A First Look at Jeffrey Chodorow's Biscayne Tavern
The goods: Restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow returns to Miami with Biscayne Tavern, an upscale pub in Downtown Miami’s recently refurbished b2 Hotel.
Ambience: The casual spot is outfitted with chalkboard walls, unfinished wood tables, cushy grey booths and six 52” flat screen TVs.
The grub: American pub grub. Portions are large but prices skew high: starters $6-$12, burgers $14 and mains $16-$29
Start with poutine with jalapenos, crispy gulf shrimp, house-made potato chips with blue cheese fondue or “Caesar” salad with kale.
Sandwiches range from oyster po’ boys to seared tuna burgers while entrees include short rib pot roast with a truffle popover, duck shepherd’s pie and three-cheese-macaroni with a bacon crust.
The minimal dessert menu revolves around warm chocolate chip cookies with cold milk.
Verdict: An upmarket American pub with a coterie of options for overindulgence.
