Raleigh on the sale rack and Restaurant Michael Schwartz out?

To quote an Adele song, rumor has it that Restaurant Michael Schwartz is officially out of the Raleigh and that the hotel’s umpteenth, latest owner, designer Tommy Hilfiger, has decided to put the place up for sale rather than renovate as he had earlier intended to do. We contacted reps for Hilfiger and Schwartz, who could not immediately be reached for comment.

More evidence: The Restaurant Michael Schwartz’s web page through the Raleigh site is 404’d, while a new one points to the simply titled The Restaurant at the Raleigh.

UPDATE: Raleigh operator sbe and Schwartz released a statement to

After four years of partnership, Chef/Restaurateur Michael Schwartz’s contract has ended at The Raleigh Miami Beach. Chef Schwartz and The Genuine Hospitality Group are turning their attention to developing future projects alongside sbe Hotel Group.  At this time, all F&B operations will remain under the management of sbe in conjunction with the property’s ownership, The Raleigh Group.

And The Raleigh Group had this to say: “The Raleigh Miami Beach is not for sale.  This property is one of Miami’s most iconic hotels and it is celebrating a big milestone this year — its 75th anniversary,” said David Pisor, CEO of The Raleigh Group.  “Our vision has not wavered.  The plan is to invest substantial resources into renovating the hotel while preserving its rich history.  It always takes longer to do it right.

Michael Schwartz has helped to reshape the restaurant landscape of Miami and Miami Beach. With his contract ending, we wish him well in his next ventures.  We are excited to announce that our new restaurant will be launching in early November. “
