Where to get free java on National Coffee Day — plus one deal you can get right now
We’re all in favor of totally-made-up holidays when it means free stuff.
So let us welcome whatever National Coffee Day is with its host of deals and freebies available in South Florida on Sept. 29. Want free coffee? Want your Lyft to drop you off at Versailles where a free colada will be waiting for you? Then read on.
There’s even one coffee (and donut!) deal available right now.
Coffee-flavored Krispy Kreme
Krispy Kreme is not messing around for National Coffee Day.
It has rolled out a new coffee-glazed doughnut available since Monday. Their signature hot-from-the-fryer-and-into-the-glaze doughnuts will have a special coffee glaze until Sept. 30. Pro tip: Wait to see the neon light outside glow bright red, indicating doughnuts are rolling out fresh from the fryer.
It will also be handing out free coffee on National Coffee Day. Sign up for member rewards online and get your doughnut for free, too.

Coffee to give you Lyft
It’s Saturday afternoon and you’re going to Versailles for a Cuban sandwich anyway, so why not let Lyft take you for half off.
All rides to Versailles are 50 percent off on Lyft from noon to 5 p.m. And if you show your Lyft receipt at the ventanita walk-up window, you’ll get a free cortadito (half evaporated milk, half espresso) or a colada to share.
To redeem the discount, passengers must navigate to the Lyft app and enter code CAFECONLYFT.
Need a primer on how to order Cuban coffee in Miami? Belw are the four acceptable drinks to order at the ventanita.
Books and brews
If you’d rather save your coffee for perusing a new book, this is the deal for you.
Barnes & Noble cafes across the country will offer a free cup of coffee — hot or iced — all day while you wander the store. No other purchase necessary. For a location near you, visit BarnesandNoble.com
The coffee’s free, Einstein
But not the grub, unfortunately. Einstein Bros. Bagles will offer a free cup of Caribou Coffee with any purchase all day Saturday.
For a location near you, visit EinsteinBros.com
Dunk with a friend
We expected better of Dunkin Donuts than 2-for-1. But beggars can’t be choosers. Buy one coffee, get one of equal or lesser value on Sept. 29.
