Andy Bates is a big food star in the UK. The owner of specialist food company ‘Eat My Pies’, Bates’ Food Network UK series include Andy Bates Street Feasts, Andy Bates American Street Feasts and Andy Bates Brazilian Street Feasts. Bates, who met his wife in Miami, has worked with Daniel Serfer of Blue Collar and Mignonette, Jose Mendin of Pubbelly and Timon Baloo of Sugarcane and Michael Moran of the FIU School of Hospitality to learn the tricks of the local trade and wil soon enough be opening The Avenue – Food & Brew, a British diner “offering refined pub food classics alongside the best American craft beers.”
Bates is not only a star, but a big winner, emerging victorious at the A+Eats competition which awarded him and his team a year of free rent in Miami’s Arts & Entertainment district. The restaurant is set to open later this year. In the meantime, Bates is giving you a three day preview of his goods with a pop up at 7:30 p.m. January 21 and 22 and at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 23 at The Filling Station Lofts.

The four-course meals are $69.57 and include drink pairings. Thursday’s and Friday’s mash and pie dinner features a Scotch Egg starter, Welsh Rarebit, award-winning Pie & Mash, and Banoffee Pie (subject to change). Saturday’s Fish & Chip lunch features Scotch Egg starter, Welsh Rarebit, Fish & Chips, Banoffee Pie. Each course includes a specially selected beer or prosecco pairing. Menu is subject to change.
