Late-night cocktails with music: New lounge and gathering spot opens in Wynwood
A new music and cocktail venue has just opened in Wynwood. And yes, you can grab a bite there, too.
Now open on 28th Street is Upside, which adds another late-night venue to the neighborhood.
Upside focuses mainly on music and cocktails, with DJ sets and late-night performances and a blend of classic drinks and signature sips. Cocktails include She’s Salty, a low-sugar twist on a margarita; Trouble in Paradise, with Grey Goose, dry vermouth, peach liqueur, orange juice, simple syrup and strawberry sherry syrup; or Main Character Energy, made with 21 Seeds Orange and Union Mezcal, lime juice, agave, blueberry water and creme de banane.
We also have our eye on the Start Me Up, which combines Don Julio Reposado, Midori, Strega Liqueur, organic matcha, lemon and green melon syrup, which we are sure is refreshing on a hot night.
The kitchen, led by executive chef Pablo Lamon — you may recognize the name from “Top Chef,” on which Lamon was a contestant in season 16 — focuses on shareable plates of upscale bar-type food.
Choices include braised short rib and manchego croquetas, red jalapeno mac and cheese arancini and whipped ricotta toast, as well as smoked wagyu sirloin bites, lobster nuggets and a truffle grilled cheese sandwich.
Upside also plans to add other programming like game day watch parties and art and fashion pop-ups throughout the year.
