This Wynwood tap room is closing — but there’s good news for craft beer lovers

Wynwood’s Concrete Beach Brewery is closing for good — but the new tenant coming to take its place is likely to make a big, beery splash of its own.

Concrete Beach announced on Instagram it will be closing its Miami tap room permanently. The site of parties, celebrations and a whole lot of craft beer swilling opened in 2014 and is owned by Alchemy & Science, an independent subsidiary of Boston Beer Company.

The bittersweet announcement says the brewery hopes its legacy lives on.

“Our mission was to brew and serve South Florida with the best craft beer possible,” it read. “We accomplished that over the past six years — with the release of countless beers, several block parties, events, brewing awards, meaningful partnerships, giving back to our community, live music and art collaborations that bled our DNA. But most importantly, we established a true sense of family with the very people that make up our neighborhood and the greater city.”

The brewery says it will concentrate on “nurturing” its popular Havana Lager. You’ll be able to find the lager on draft and in cans at other local spots.

As for its other inventions — like the Bouvalay beer created when Hurricane Irma forced the brewers to leave a beer to ferment for too long or that time the tap room cooked up a beer for dogs — you’ll just have to rely on fond memories.

The best news for craft beer lovers, though, may lie in who’s taking over the spot at 325 NW 24th St. Dogfish Head, which was bought by Boston Beer Company in 2019 and has a residency in the Concrete Beach tap room, will take over the space at some point later this year, according to Concrete Beach’s Instagram post. Dogish has already launched social brands specifically for Miami.

Expect more art, more community outreach — and of course, more craft beer.
