At this new secret speakeasy in Miami Beach, the cocktail menu comes on Tarot cards
Not everything in Miami Beach is about the sand and sunshine.
Take, for example, the new and atmospheric secret speakeasy Spellbound, now open on South Beach.
Spellbound doesn’t have an outdoor patio where you can loll around and get a tan. Nor does it have big picture windows to let in glimpses of Florida’s endless summer. This is a speakeasy, people. It’s dark and mysterious, and it is full of drinks and the people who love them.
Located in the Fairwind Hotel on Collins Avenue, Spellbound puts its cocktail menu on Tarot cards, inviting its customers to pick their poison (note: not literally). The cards may tell you what to drink, but please remember they cannot call you a Lyft if you overindulge.
The cocktails have been created by mixologist David Velazquez. The ingredients are fresh, and the drinks are hand-crafted. Come for the Witching Hour between midnight and 2 a.m. and find a late-night happy hour with $7 cocktails, $5 wine and $4 beer.
Like we said, Spellbound is a hidden speakeasy, but we’ll give you a hint on how to find it: There’s a private entrance on 10th Street at the side of the building. You’ll see a doorman there; ask him for help and he’ll guide you inside to see what the cards have in store for you.
