Mansion nightclub closed on Miami Beach

Mansion nightclub on Miami Beach has closed its doors – for now.

The signature club of the Opium Group which has housed countless celebs and top-tier DJs announced it was closed on its Facebook page and on its website www.mansionmiami.com

Reaction has been mixed on the nightclub’s Facebook page, with some fans saying the closing is long overdue, claiming high drink prices, shady door practices and an unsafe location.

But it appears Mansion may be closed temporarily and getting an overdue facelift – and possible name change. Another post on its Facebook page boasts a job fair at Mansion from Tuesday, Jan. 10 – Friday, Jan. 13 from 3-6 p.m. each day.

The post reads: “Be part of our grand reopening and work with the best team in the business in Miami’s most spectacular venue featuring multi million dollar sound and light system. Interested parties should apply in person.”

In the meantime, the Thomas Gold performance scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 14 at Mansion has been moved to SET Miami (320 Lincoln Road), one of four nightclubs the Opium Group manages on Miami Beach (Mokai and Louis are the other two). Other performances slated for Mansion have been relocated to the group’s other venues.

One has to wonder, with the continued success of LIV nightclub at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach (4441 Collins Ave.), the recently opened Amnesia nightclub in the old Opium Garden/Prive space (136 Collins Ave.) by DJ Bob Sinclar and the emergence of new upscale lounges like Jeronimo’s Bar (814 1st St.), Foxhole (1426-A 14th Court) and Chalk Ping Pong and Billiards (1234 Washington Ave.), perhaps Mansion was starting to feel tired and stale to the beach’s nightclub audience.
