After half a decade of hosting live music events, The Stage Miami has announced that it will be closing down at its current location. Owner Carlos Garcia told New Times the landlord, Sound Theory Live Holdings LLC, is looking to sell the building, most likely due to increasing property values as planned development projects in the area move further along. The team at the venue has promised fans The Stage will not shut down without a bang; Sound Theory Live Holdings LLC is currently organizing a stacked lineup of live events that will run all the way up to May 10, the venue’s final night.
According to Garcia and The Stage crew, though, the closing may not be forever. They told New Times they are considering a move. While they haven’t found the perfect spot yet, Garcia said, “we’re still hopeful, and we’re still looking.” He named Wynwood, the Design District, Little Havana and Coconut Grove as possibilities for relocation.
