Club + Bars

This new Miami Beach lounge hopes to be ‘irresistible’ like its namesake

There’s a new restaurant/lounge opening Friday, and her name is Jezebel.

Liquid Hospitality’s Chris Paciello and Mio Danilovic, owners of organic taco spot Tocaya Organica and Rockwell Nightclub, are set for the July 28 opening of Jezebel Bar + Kitchen, a cocktail lounge and restaurant at 1625 Michigan Ave. in South Beach. The lounge is opening in the space formerly known as Bacaro and popular and much lamented gay bars Mova and Halo.

“Liquid Hospitality is very excited to be opening Jezebel Bar + Kitchen as we continue to expand our portfolio,” Paciello said. “With this concept, we look to offer locals a place to enjoy top quality food, drinks and service in a relaxed environment, perfect for any evening.”

This isn’t a bar that will let you go hungry. Food is available from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. On the menu: Ahi tuna pizza, mini lobster tacos, Jezebel wings, yellowtail jalapeño sashimi, flaming s’mores and truffle popcorn.

Cocktail highlights include fancy drinks like El Chapo starring Illegal Mezcal, Don Julio Reposado Tequila, fresh lime juice, pineapple and arbol chile syrup. Or try a Summer 17 G&T with Nolet’s Silver Gin, Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic, juniper berries and orchid.

The 2,300-square-foot lounge, a collaboration between Liquid Hospitality and interior designer François Frossard of SET fame, is speakeasy meets Wynwood, with Venetian columns, vintage leather furniture, wooden slab bar and street art by Miguel Paredes, featuring scenes from New York City.

We asked why they named the place after a woman who represents all things crafty, malicious and cruel, but Paciello disagreed with our assessment.

“A Jezebel is an unrestrained woman that is simply irresistible,” he said. “Much like the definition, our concept is hip, edgy, unrestrained, and somewhere you won’t be able to resist.” Saucy!

Paciello has been involved in the culinary and nightlife scene in Miami for more than a decade. The impresario has been rebuilding his life in the Magic City, opening new venues as he leaves behind his colorful past. He opened Bianca at Delano in 2012, invested in several start-ups in Miami as well as Rockwell and Tocaya Organica.
