The story: Why does the Mexican flag resemble the Italian flag? After some intense research into the matter, we’re still not sure. The mystery should make for great conversation at the new TiramesU in South Beach’s SoFi neighborhood, where the “Fighting for the Flag” cocktail awaits you. The drink is made with tequila from Jalisco, Mexico and the inimitable Cocchi Aperitivo Americano, an Italian fortified wine used in place of vermouth. To balance the bilateral drink, bar manager Claudio Genovese adds agave syrup, fresh lime juice and orange bitters along with a salt-coffee rim. From midnight to 2 a.m.— aka prime time for some of the best debates— your first drink is free.
Where to find it: TiramesU, 101 Washington Ave., Miami Beach.
