After Brazil’s big World Cup win, Ronaldinho keeps the party going in Miami Beach
Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldinho had a lot to celebrate Wednesday night.
After his country’s 3-0 win over Scotland in the FIFA World Cup at Hard Rock Stadium, the now-fan kept the party going until the wee hours, and rightfully so.
The Ballon d’Or winner joined friends, colleagues and fans for a blowout at Queen Miami Beach about 15 miles from the stadium, arriving around 10 p.m., insiders told the Miami Herald.
Ronaldinho (born Ronaldo de Assis Moreira) was reportedly greeted with a champagne toast, as guests clamored to catch a glimpse or even meet him. He graciously obliged, taking selfies, signing jerseys and shaking hands. Ronaldinho played for the Brazil national team from 1999 to 2013.
The crowd included fellow players including Real Madrid’s Éder Militão, and a few members of the Tartan Army, aka Scottish superfans who were still in an ebullient mood, despite the L.
After the festivities, the famous host didn’t have a long way to travel for his bed. In March, Ronaldinho bought an $8 million penthouse at Onda Residences in Bay Harbor Islands.
The big World Cup victory capped off a historic week for the sports icon, who just made global headlines for coming out of a decade-long retirement to sign with Italy’s Ravenna FC.
Did we mention he is 46 years old? That’s OK, when you’re in his kind of shape, age is just a number.
“I cannot wait to dance with the ball,” Ronaldinho said during a Tuesday media event at Cipriani, Ravenna co-owner Ignazio Cipriani’s chichi restaurant in Brickell. “Futbol has always been joyful for me, and I’m excited to bring that spirit to Ravenna. Let the magic begin!”
