Bon Jovi’s youngest just graduated from UM. What we know about him
Jon Bon Jovi’s an empty-nester.
The ‘80s hair-band legend’s youngest (with wife of 37 years Dorothea Hurley) graduated from University of Miami’s Frost School of Music on Friday.
Romeo Bongiovi, which is the rocker’s real last name, posed with his famous dad at the commencement ceremony in a pic widely shared on social media. Smiling widely, they both threw up a hand to form the Coral Gables college’s signature “U” symbol.
So what will Romeo do now that his studies are over? Not surprisingly, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in this family. The 22-year-old will likely continue working on songs and playing guitar with his indie-punk band called Lawn, a campus fave. On Instagram, fans can see the dates of future shows.
According to UM’s Hurricanes newsletter, which spotlighted Lawn in a recent issue, the quartet is “experimenting with their sound through raw emotions and real world occurrences.”
As for what Bon Jovi and Hurley will do now that their kids are full-fledged adults? The parents of four will certainly stay busy. The high school sweethearts (yes!) split their time between their home state of New Jersey, the Hamptons and Palm Beach, where they moved part-time in 2018. In July 2020, the pair purchased a $43 million beachfront home on the same day they sold their original place nearby for roughly $20 million.
Beside being empty-nesters, Hurley, 63, and Bon Jovi, 64, are newish grandparents. Their middle son, actor-model Jake, 24, adopted a baby girl with his actress wife Millie Bobby Brown last summer. Their eldest son, 31-year-old wine entrepreneur Jesse, welcomed a daughter with his influencer wife Jesse Light this past November.
And, as anyone who has followed the “Livin’ on a Prayer” singer for decades knows, Bon Jovi doesn’t stay idle long, despite a nagging health issue. This summer, Bon Jovi and his beloved namesake band will head out on the 2026 Forever’ Tour, marking their return to live performances after the star’s vocal cord surgery in 2022. Things will kick off at Madison Square Garden in New York City with a four-night residency July 7, then move on to three stadium shows in the United Kingdom.
