Want ‘Real Housewives of Miami’ gossip? These OGs are about to dish
If you’re already missing “Real Housewives of Miami, we’re here to give you some relief.
Two of the glammest OGs from the longstanding Bravo show, which is on an indefinite pause, will be front and center dishing about all things “RHOM” and beyond.
We’re of course talking about besties Marysol Patton and Alexia Nepola, who will take the stage Tuesday night, April 28, at the Miami Improv in Doral for “The Miami Housewives: Live!”
Comedy? Expect a little, because Marysol. But for the most part, the ladies will just be themselves, gabbing (and gossiping) away. TikTok sensation Miguel Luciano, known for his dead-on Housewife impressions, will be there to provide an assist.
“We don’t plan jokes,” Patton tells the Miami Herald. “Alexia and I have a natural funny banter that is completely unplanned and off the cuff.”
As for interaction with you folks, you better believe that will be happening — so prepare like you’re at “Inside the Actor’s Studio.” They’ll take questions, be they about behind the scene antics or insiders-only information, so hit them up. They’re not shy.
“That is honestly my favorite part, getting to meet the people who have supported us all these seasons,” says Nepola. “We catch everyone up to speed and answer all the burning questions they’ve been dying to ask.”
The show is unscripted, so expect the unexpected.
“It’s fast, it’s funny, and it’s driven by our real-life friendship,” adds Nepola. “The audience isn’t just watching, they’re part of the show. It’s very real, very Miami, and very us.”
The crowd is expected to be mostly made up of South Floridians, with a dash of the unknown, i.e. a random fan from elsewhere. (”Once we had someone drive all the way from Cincinnati for a show in Boca,” Patton says).
So how does the duo feel about their franchise going on break? Collectively, it’s a bummer.
“It’s definitely disappointing for all of us,” says Patton. “I personally love filming, especially with my good friends. It is such an organic experience, because real things are happening to my real friends and we all share in the pain and the laughter together.”
While the unknown status is disheartening, Nepola recalls how the series, first brought to the air in 2011, was once thought to be gone for good only to be resurrected by Peacock in 2021.
“It’s more of a reset, than the end and we always come back stronger,” says the 58-year-old Nepola, who thinks “RHOM” trumps all others.
“Miami’s always been different,” the Cuba native says. “From day one, we’ve been a unique franchise with a majority Latina cast. It’s really special that we were highlighting the culture before it became such a focus, and being able to share that with the world is meaningful and impactful.”
Patton is staying active with several projects, including launching a caviar named after her dearly departed mother/fan favorite Mama Elsa. The 59-year-old also hawks a jewelry line for HSN and is a partner for hair-extension brand Locks and Mane. The onetime publicist to the stars is also helping husband Steve McNamara with a meat and seafood subscription box called Steve’s Prime Meat Club.
Nepola keeps it moving, too.
“I’m always busy I don’t stop, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way,” says the Alexia & Frankie’s Beauty Bar owner. “I love my customers and getting to meet fans who stop by to say hello to us.”
While Real Housewives from myriad cities are known to fight like cats and dogs (and even throw over a table or two), Patton and Nepola have managed to keep their friendship intact throughout all seven seasons. They first met two decades ago while crossing paths in society circles.
Their bond just works. Patton steers clear of much of the drama while focusing on her “cockies,” while Nepola navigates chaos like a boss. Last season, the former magazine editor went through a very public split with real estate mogul Todd Nepola, who later sued Bravo for how he was perceived. The $11 million defamation suit was eventually dropped.
Any fellow castmembers they will miss? Probably not fellow OG Adriana De Moura, who dropped a mega bombshell during the three-part reunion special. The Brazilian art dealer revealed she had a romantic rendezvous with Julia Lemigova, who is married to tennis legend Martina Navratilova. (We hear their union is unaffected, despite the scandalous headlines).
“That definitely floored me,” says Patton, who would not go into more specifics.
“Last season was definitely a rollercoaster of emotions, some good and some not so good,” adds Nepola. “Being on TV together creates a bond no matter what. Some relationships are stronger than others, and I’m OK with that. The people who are meant to be in my life are in it.”
Another thing the local queens can agree on: Andy Cohen is a great boss.
“He is very hands on,” says Patton. “Anytime I have ever texted or emailed him his response time is immediate, pleasant, lighthearted and always helpful.”
“Mi jefe es el mejor!” Nepola agrees. “He’s always accessible and open to conversation. He also loves speaking Spanish, which I love. It adds such a fun, personal touch to his energy.”
