Marcello Hernandez was just asked about his love life — and he spilled
Marcello Hernandez is an international man of mystery. The 28-year-old “Saturday Night Live” star likes to keep his fans guessing.
Case in point: Earlier this month, the comic teased a video in which he appears he’s about to tie the knot. He’s in a flower-filled church, dressed in a very groom-like tux, dabbing at his eyes. Turns out he just “married” the poster for his Netflix special “American Boy,” which is framed at the altar. Cue the laugh track.
When we asked the Miami native’s rep about his actual relationship status at the time? Crickets.
But on Tuesday’s appearance on “Armchair Expert podcast,” host Dax Shepard asked the comic about his love life. The “Idiocracy” star inquired why he hadn’t gone after pop singer Sabrina Carpenter, who’s appeared in “SNL” sketches with Hernandez’s lothario character, “Domingo.”
“Are you not trying your hardest to marry her?” Shepard asked.
“I’m in a relationship,” responded Hernandez, who, bless his heart, added a few more details about the lucky lady.
“She’s a Dominican girl,” the Only in Dade alum revealed. “She’s an architect. She’s unreal. She went to Yale.”
Hernandez dropped no names, but a quick Google search helped us out. She’s Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral, who stepped out with Hernandez in July of last year at the “Happy Gilmore 2” premiere.
A scan of Batlle Cabral’s Instagram (thanks for not going private, chica!) shows she’s not much of a tea spiller, either. But there is one recent, telltale post full of pics of the comely couple. The caption congratulates “mi cello” on the Netflix show, telling her followers to watch it.
“So proud,” Batlle Cabral wrote. “I love you.”
In the comments, Hernandez replied with a heart emoji, “Te amooo.”
So that settles it.
As the Belen Jesuit alum noted on “Armchair Expert,” his gf does seem quite accomplished, at least on LinkedIn. Beside getting a bachelor’s degree at Savannah College of Art and Design in 2018 (then that master’s at Yale), the 29-year-old has her own architecture company, BATLLE + sig.
Granted, Hernandez is no slouch in the education department. The former soccer player got a scholarship to play at John Carroll University in Ohio, where he graduated with a degree in entrepreneurship and communication in 2019.
So how long has this been going on? Celebrity gossip site Deux Moi reports the New Yorkers have been looking cozy for about a year, so this isn’t the newest of news.
It’s not known how they met, but we fully expect Hernandez to bring Batlle Cabral back to Miami soon so we can properly stalk them in on his home turf.
