Inside Venus Williams’ wedding celebrations at Florida mansion: ‘A dream’
It’s a match!
Venus Williams just got married in Florida — in a big way.
The lucky groom is Italian actor-model Andrea Preti, who the tennis legend has managed to keep under wraps for some time.
Though he doesn’t appear on her social media, WIlliams let it slip over the summer that her “fiancé” was in the stands watching her singles match at Washington, D.C.’s, Mubadala Citi DC Open.
Williams announced her big news in an Instagram post Tuesday, tagging Vogue magazine, which took sumptuous pictures of the grand affair.
The stunning wedding, held at Williams’ Jupiter Island manse, is also the subject of an accompanying article that explains the fabulous way they met.
Both were attending a Gucci show during Milan Fashion Week in September 2024. But neither one was in the mood to go out.
“I got an invite at the last minute and decided to go on a whim, and Andrea was tired,” the seven-time Grand Slam champ explained. “Neither of us was planning on being there.”
Sparks flew immediately, so the two decided to meet up in London a few days later. That’s when Williams realized Preti was the one.
“People always say they just know, and I just knew,” said the 45-year-old California native.
Despite her love life taking off, Williams’ health took a hit. Just as the relationship was blossoming, she was diagnosed with adenomyoma, a condition when endometrial tissue grows into the wall of the uterus.
Preti, 37, not only helped his new girlfriend recover from grueling surgery, but popped the question just about six months later, on Jan. 31.
The couple — who had their first, unofficial wedding in September in Ischia, Italy — wanted to celebrate their union in Williams’ home state of Florida.
The lead-up to Saturday’s actual ceremony started as early as last Monday when fellow tennis icon Serena Williams, gave her older sibling a yacht as a wedding present.
Tuesday was the bridal shower with fam and friends that turned into a dance party when the crew channeled their “inner Beyonce,” Vogue reported, adding that the next day the gang headed down to South Beach for a fancy dinner at members-only club Sopra. Thursday was “sports day,” a chance for Williams to show off her athletic skills.
On Friday, as you can see in the Instagram pics, the couple visited City Hall for a courthouse wedding. For privacy reasons, they tied the knot at the crack of dawn, when no paparazzi were awake.
“I can’t describe how beautiful, calm, sacred, exciting, and exalting it was,” Williams gushed. “It was just a dream.”
On the actual big day, the pair exchanged vows yet again, in both English and Italian.
First dance? The Flamingos’ “I Only Have Eyes for You.”
