Leonardo DiCaprio kept a low profile at Art Basel this year. At last, a sighting

Hiding in plain sight.

Despite the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio has not missed an Art Basel in like, ever, we had our doubts this year.

There’s usually a sighting of the avid art collector during VIP previews at the Miami Beach Convention Center surrounded by a posse. He’s also known to pop up at a random late night party or two, dressed in his signature black ballcap and mask.

When no fuzzy cellphone pics showed up on the Internet (or from our spies) by the weekend, we were thinking DiCaprio decided to sit this one out. We get it, he’s a busy guy, plus he lives on the West Coast 3,000 miles away.

But no, he just got better at keeping a low profile. On Monday, Page Six obtained proof that the Oscar winner, 51, was indeed in our midst. DiCaprio actually attended a number of events, including a performance by South African DJ Black Coffee Friday night at LIV nightclub.

“Leo was there in a VIP cluster out on the floor,” an insider told the outlet.

On Saturday, after perusing potential purchases at the convention center, Page Six reports that the “Titanic” star hit up Factory Basel, a huge, EDM-soaked soiree at Factory Town in Hialeah, until the wee hours.

No need for FOMO if you didn’t catch sight of the actor, who checked out of the Faena Hotel the next day. He purposely throws folks off his scent. That’s just how he rolls, with the mask era beginning right around the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an interview with Time, which just named him “Entertainer of the Year,” the Hollywood icon explained his thought process.

“It’s been a balance I’ve been managing my whole adult life, and still I’m not an expert,” he told the magazine. “I think my simple philosophy is only get out there and do something when you have something to say, or you have something to show for it. Otherwise, just disappear as much as you possibly can.”

The man of mystery act, often put on while in public places, seems to be working out for the never-married heartthrob.

“I was like, ‘OK, how do I have a long career?” DiCaprio said. “I love what I do, and I feel like the best way to have a long career is to get out of people’s face.”
