Rapper JT is stepping up for her friend, TikTok star Girlalala, who was shot and killed inside a car in Lauderdale Lakes last Friday night.

The 32-year-old artist, one half of defunct duo City Girls, will reportedly help pay toward the funeral expenses for the slain transgender hair stylist, born male as Maurice Harrison.

On her saved Instagram Stories, JT (real name is Jatavia Johnson) encourages her followers to contribute as well, “even if it’s $5,” and links to Girlalala’s Go Fund Me.

“Nothing is funny about a [domestic] violence story,” JT writes. “My heart is broken...If you see something, say something.”

The online fundraiser has already exceeded its $25,000 goal, with $29,028 in the pot as of Friday morning. The family thanks the community and says it will announce a date for the 21-year-old influencer’s service shortly.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the social media star’s boyfriend, 25-year-old Shanoyd Whyte Jr., is in custody over the fatal incident and being held at Broward County Jail on no bond.

Authorities say a “verbal argument which turned physical” in Whyte’s front passenger seat occurred shortly before 7 p.m.

As per the report obtained by the MiamI Herald, Broward County Regional Communications received a “medical call” near a residence in the 3300 block of Northwest 37th Street. BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene where an individual was suffering from gunshot wounds.

Paramedics transported the victim to Broward Health Medical Center and was pronounced deceased. Whyte Jr., who told detectives he and Girlalala have been in a relationship for several years, is facing first-degree murder charges.

The BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units are still investigating the deadly shooting.
